About
The boat & our story

We have taken the Bayliner to Catalina, across to Newport Beach and down the coast back to San Diego. The Garmin and Active Captain helped me navigate the waterways. A lot of mechanical work has been done on the Hino engines, which are basically solid Japanese truck engines. They have both fired up with no issues for us. We recently purchased a full set of new batteries.
What she is
The Bayliner 3888 is a 42-foot (LOA) flybridge motor yacht built by Bayliner (Brunswick) — a modified-V, planing fiberglass hull with a full keel, twin inboard diesels and a layout that sleeps a family in comfort: master stateroom forward, a private midship stateroom, two heads (one with a tub) and a big, bright salon with a lower helm.
Our 1990 example runs economical twin Hino EH700 175 hp diesels.
